weekend at Rio Negro

Rain and monkey...

its now about 11:30 am when we are sitting at our PCs and starting to work for the project . but the sky is dark today and there is no shining sun which always made the day intolerable. the sky feels like the one in the evening and clouds are getting more and more thick and black. wow its raining , i mean its really raining may be you have never seen such a scene like that. well you know the feeling of standing under the shower in your bathroom and getting wet in about 2 seconds.so its the same here but its natural so if you go out and take your shampoo with you then it will be a great shower.
anyway the people of amazon will be happy because it was a long time without rain here. and the palm trees and all other green plants here will be washed. but the little monkeys didn't like the rain i guess. as i am writing the monkeys are just jumping in the trees and springing from one tree to another . they got wet by the rain i can see them as the water is dropping from their faces. its right in font of my window here in University maybe about 10 meters from here . its a big family of small monkeys. ha ha what a surprise to see these animals in front of my office :D. i was waiting to see them for almost 5 weeks here and now the rain made them move :D

Paintball in Manaus

It was almost a week that we found out that there is a paintball field in Manaus some where , and its almost cheap to play there . so we asked the girls who are working in our Institute to arrange a game with some friends of us and some guys which we know now in university. These people remember me every time to the student life in my home land I like to be with them how ever I don't understand what they talk. George is the guy we met and he is kind of different Brazilian I mean he is not a common Brazilian he is a very cool and communicative guy. He picked us up to the field it was some where in Ponta negra .it seemed like an area of construction where some guys where managed as a field for paintball . we took our equipments and before the game we took some pictures. Two teams we were 3 guys from Germany and 2 Brazilians and the their team were a girl and 3 guys. It was a funny and nervous game . some guys got head shots and some were shot on their skin . I got shot also on my arm and my foot . it hurt but it is a pure fun. We reloaded our markers about 3 times with 50 shots and we paid just 40 RS its about less than 20 euro.

And after the game we went with all colored shirts and trousers to a restaurant and had some dinner. A nice game with nice people and nice weather and good dinner every thing was perfect today.

Oh and today I had breakfast in Centro with Janni and kamila and Jackson some traditional stuff and traditional juices of Acaí and Guarana.

Story of Federal Police in Manaus

If you once want to come here for longer than a month you have to register yourself by Policia Federal in any city . we were trying to do this before the 30th day of our residence here. We managed to go there with our Portuguese teacher who could maybe translate for us what the police wants from us. After a terrible ride on the streets of Manaus which are almost so wild and rough like the jungle environment around the city , we arrived at territory of policia federal which is considered as the most respectful police in Brazil there are also some other kinds of police here like policia military and etc.

After a while of waiting ,the guy sitting at the desk gave us a list of documents we needed to provide before getting registered so we left the DPF without any success. At that time I just remembered the offices of police in Iran and I knew that we will spend a lot of time for a registration which is probably not so important. So first of all we need some 3x4 photos , I tell you this because it was a story to get these photos. After some days we managed to go to a shopping center where we could make some photos . we entered the shop and asked for some photos the girl behind the desk was very kind . she asked me to go behind the desk and as usual I though that there is a room with some cameras and stuff to shoot photos . but she asked me to sit on a chair almost in the corner of the shop and she pulled a small digital camera out of her pocket and just made a photo just a photo like a one maybe you shoot on a party. And everybody were laughing but it was actually a normal process of shooting photos.

And the story of police went on and we got all the documents and at the last day we were supposed to make copies of our passports not only a copy but a verified copy . we went to a shop called Cartório and there I just recalled the process of stamping copies in Iran. So this country is actually similar to Iran. But the city is worse than any big city in Iran.

On our next visit to Policia federal we spent about 2 hours of just sitting on a chair in that office at least it had air conditioners so we were safe of the heat out side of 40 degrees. After getting our fingerprints and so many signatures they let us go with a piece of paper which should be a residence document or something like that.

Story of jungle trip part2

The next morning as I woke up every body else where already brushing teeth and getting ready. The captain and one of us went also fishing in the morning. Very early we started the trip and found the right way inside the national park .after about 2 hours the river became narrower and some houses showed them selves so we could talk to some fishers and find a place to stay for a day. One of them had a little house where we decided to stay. A very silent river we sounds of birds from the jungle which start just on the sides of river a beautiful scene.
I catched my first and biggest fish that afternoon I was really happy that day. It was a real big fish they called it TUKUNARE and it was also very delicious. We spent the day fishing and swimming and after sunset it was a beautiful scene of night in the jungle it was the most beautiful nights I have ever seen with a big moon in the sky witch made the jungle like a bed room with a dimmed light . we prepared another fire to cook the dinner which was also fruit salad and some chicken .
After the dinner the guide was talking about a wild animal getting near us .it seemed that he is afraid of animals or he just wanted to make a wild picture of jungle in our minds, Because during the trip we never saw any kind of animals except birds beside the water. so it was confusing if there was some animal near us or not. But it was enough to get ready for the boat again. We started the way back home. In the morning as I got up we were at one of those houses which we saw already on our way. We took some shower in the river and then we went for jungle walk and some fishing after we got into a silent small river with a smaller boat, we saw some unexplainable scenes of nature some trees which were fallen in the river and made kinds of barriers for every boat which wanted to go along the river. And the fishes were just jumping out of water to play or get food I mean really big fishes and the water was so silent that I could see the fishes swimming under the boat. In the jungle we saw some exotic trees like the big one with sort of milk called latex tree and the one with water dropping out of its braches if you cut them.
In the afternoon we started our way back home again and we stopped again for lunch at a beach so here we prepared the fishes we catched the day before. The guide did fill the fishes with a sort of salad and spices. And then rolled the fishes in the banana leafs and put it on the grill on the fire.
Here I catched my second fish , it was a great feeling pulling the line with a strong fish on it .
On the last hours of our trip the sky began to become dark slowly and the wind became stronger every minute, it was a great feeling as I was sitting in the front part of the boat and enjoying the wild environment which we were passing the green trees of different types just covered with some other plants and palm trees watching up to sky and old dead trees lust laying on both sides of the river like half in water and half in the jungle . the light and combination of colors made me mad of that beauty the brown color of the river with moving waves and the many different greens and a dark blue gray background being shined by the sunset light and a wind blowing in your face and the feeling of being in some where special and just forgetting the sad and dark world of everyday life and just forget all bad things which are surrounding you in your life and the feeling of being in a part of paradise just in a place that the humans didn’t dare to destroy . it was like a place where you can forgive everybody and everything because you are far away from any kind of civilization . its also a strange feeling being in the middle of wildness , where we once maybe have lived in .and I was feeling myself as a part of some wildness and feel the power of nature blowing the wind to my face and the fact that the modern humans cant live in nature any more without their technology .
The wind and storm made us stop at the river side and wait for the end of storm which took about one hour we just tried not to get wet a lot . after some hour we took the way into the port where a ship was waiting to bring us back to Manaus. And what happened at that night on the ship is a story for itself but I cant write it here. The End

Story of jungle trip part1

So I decided to write the story of my trip to Jaú National park in Amazonas, and in English to make it possible for my friends to read :)
As you see in my pics it was a real adventure and an experience which, not every body is able to do it.
So the story began in first week of my Brazil stay, in the afternoon me and my friends where in city center of Manaus and we were visiting the Teatro do amazonas there a south American guy started to talk with us and he explained that he is a jungle guide and he would like to make a tour with us. And we were looking for a tour so after checking his loyalty we started the trip with him. we were 5 guys . 1 American 3 Germans and me we started the trip at Friday night in Manaus harbor. this name “Harbor“ is actually too much for the place we catches the ship it was just a temporary platform where people could walk in the ship through a ladder. A problem of the cities which are at the coast of Rio Negro is that the water depth changes with in the rainy season so about 10 to 15 meters so the ship platform must be a floating one to survive this change. Any way the ship had two floors where people were hanging their hang mats in order to sleep over night because the trip would be about 9 hours. About 50 hang mats made a beautiful image on the ship and in the top it was a bar and seats to enjoy the air. You must know that all of these stuff are not in a high class and clean style but there are very normal people and unfortunately the hygienic state of the facilities is terrible almost every where in Amazonas. so the ship started and we found a place for our hang mats and after some drinks everybody where asleep. In the morning a beautiful sunrise waked us up and a cool but warm breeze made our lungs fresh  it’s the best air full of oxygen and beautiful images of jungle and water. At 5 am we arrived at city of NOVOAIRAO a little city in the middle of nowhere. We spent the day in a family house who knew our guide we had breakfast and went to buy all stuff we needed for the next 3 days because after this city there were no shops and no electricity. After breakfast in a tiny house which was made of wood we went to the river to swim with the pink dolphins of Rio Negro , an interesting vision where the dolphins swim to you and get a fish from your hand in a very natural environment and without any trainers and you could jump in water and feel their skin. There are actually not real dolphins and the natives call them Botos , and the people of this city believe in some stories about this animal that in the night they become men and sleep with girls of this city , so if a girls becomes pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is ,the people will say that this dolphin made her pregnant.
About 3 pm we get ready to get the boat to the jungle but as usual here the boat was not ready so we waited for more 2 hours. The fishing boat started lately under the captain pedros order. We passed very slowly but secure thrown the branches of big rio negro having fun on the top of the tiny boat . in the night we lost our way because of dark and the fact that in the jungle every sight looks the same. So we prepared our selves for sleeping on the boat or some where at the jungle. So we stopped and made some fire on the little sand area and fried some chicken . its was not a comfortable night to sleep in the boat because of 10 guys in one tiny boat. .....

waterfalls and chocolate pizza

boi manaus 2009

second night, first friends, first party

it will be the first post of this blog ,this blog will be to write some stuff about my journey to the brazilian ( contitent) and specially the life and such stuff of the city of Manaus .
